Huey Newton was inspired in part by Malcolm X. Malcolm X was inspired by THEM. Khalid Muhammad was inspired in part by Louis Farrakhan. Louis Farrakhan was inspired, and taught, by THEM. That acronym stands for the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the founder of the Nation of Islam and so much more.
Born around 1897, this was a man courageous enough to teach Black pride and solidarity even amidst the lynchings of the Jim Crow era!! His teaching transformed many Black lives, then those lives transformed more, and because of this, he is undoubtedly one of the most significant roots in the Black Empowerment/Liberation tree.
